About me

My name is Simon. I am currently working as an Account Lead at a Graphic Design agency managing branding projects for a wide range of clients. I started skateboarding around the age of 9, and it has been a lifelong passion of mine ever since. I grew up in a small town with limited access to well-developed skateparks, so I feel I can bring a good perspective to someone who is looking to learn how to skate. I am now 29 years old and am still learning and progressing in skating every day and would love to share that passion with other people who are looking to either get into it or just need some help getting better and passing certain barriers.

What Will Students Get From a Course With You?

Students will come away feeling confident that they have some tools and strategies to continue their progression between lessons. My main goal will be to get people comfortable on their boards, master the basics, and help them understand the process of progression and give them the confidence they need to take skating in the direction that they'd like to, because ultimately, everyone skates differently, and that's what's so awesome about it.

What Types Of Tricks And Skating Can You Teach?

Below is a list of what I would be comfortable teaching. The basics: - getting comfortable on your board - How to balance - customizing your set-up / finding your preferences (basically a gear run-down) - pushing - turning - stopping Basic tricks: - Ollie/Fakie Ollie - Reverts - Flat ground manuals and nose manuals - Shuv-its (regular/fakie/nollie) - 180s Flip Tricks: - Kickflip - Heelflip -Frontside and backside pop shut-its - Varial kickflip - 360 flip - Fakie Kickflip - Fakie Heelfip Grinds/Slides - Boardslides - Frontside 50-50s - 5-0 grinds - Tailslides - Backside crooked grinds Transition: - Pumping/balance - Rock & Roll stalls - 50-50 /5-0 stalls - 50-50 grinds There are of course lots of variations within all of the above tricks. Anything I haven't mastered yet, I would be open to going on the journey with someone a tackling the trick together. I think what I can provide in those instances is some strategies for progression and an approach to landing new/harder tricks

What parks/areas are closest for you to give lessons?

I live in the south Etobicoke area near Toronto, Canada. The skateparks I would be able to teach at are Eighth Street Skatepark, and the Port Credit skatepark on Lakeshore in Mississauga. I am also open to teaching in people's driveways, or in public parks nearby depending on what's most comfortable.
